Happy New Year! .......and where I live

I hadn't actually realised I haven't written anything since last year now!! So Iwill try make up for it, there has not been that much happening really, but I have finally taken photos of where I live so you can get an idea.....

Since uploading photos here takes awhile, I'll only put some up and rest can go at the place where the rest of the photos are.

So pretty much I live in a room in a sectioned off by a hedge and fence, area next to the building I work in, and its all in a enclosed property, they have people who sleep by the gate so if we come in late at night need to get them to open the gate for us.

So the photo outisde the place with the sign shows the view from the road, then inside, the garden/lawn part opposite the work building, and our block of rooms, in the photo the door to the bathroom doesn't show, its on the left, my room is the third from the left, the other guys live in the first two rooms, and the kitchen is the room right at the end.

The map shows where we are in Accra, road signage here is not by any means amazing so its hard to narrow down exactly where I am, but the section enclosed by pink coloured roads to the left of the water part, is where I live, in the top left hand corner, the most of that section is a hospital, so whenever I tell someone I live in Korle Bu their first guess is to think I'm a doctor!

That looks quite cosy, Emma. Do you think the compund used to be part of the hospital? .

Nah I doubt it was part of the hospital, there are other similar looking places surrounding us, and the hospital is bordered in by massive gates at all the road entrances, so I think its pretty set up, not actually sure how long the hospital has been there....

Hi Nicola,

Yes I do like the country, its very different from New Zealand in many ways but still good and I'm enjoying my time here.

It is very hot but I have a fan in my room and air con at work so I survive! Just try to stay out of the sun in the middle of the day.

Do you have to go out of your room and walk to the bathroom? is it a communal kinda thing? You are roughing it!

Yes the three of us share the bathroom, and I do indeed have to walk outisde to get to it....I haven't really yet had the experience where it was pouring with rain but no doubt it will come eventually.....
