So another weekend over and another beach visited, not that I am complaining!
Went to the east for the first time this weekend, heading for Ada Foah which is the point where the Volta River meets the ocean. And so of course a beach, and this time also a fresh water lagoon to swim in also.
Drive was only about 2 hours so not long to get here. Place was very nice although basic as its not really by any running water or electricty, although there were a couple of lights at night time.
So apart from lots of swimming and lying in the sun, we took a walk down the beach for about an hour to where the river meets the ocean, and pretty much it was also the point where all the rubbish seemed to collect! One of the worst things about this country is there absolute disregard for waste collection, plastic is absolutely everywhere.
Luckily after our walk in the sun down the beach, because we really didn't feel like walking back again, there was a boatland of British and Ghanaians from a resort further upstream from and they gave us a ride back with them, so got to see some more of the river from the boat.
Its a large expanse, with lots of islands around from the part I could see, possibly more if you went further. The islands pretty much have nice houses which are I would guess the holiday homes of the Accra rich, they generally have jettys and houses, so it kind of looks a little bit like the Bay of Islands expect not such a big expanse.
So another good weekend trip away, possibly need to go somewhere now that isn't the beach!

Rad photos, you're definitely getting the hang of the whole photo thing. Think this looks like the best place yet (apart from the rubbishy bit ew) How funny is the fishing!!!! MAybe they're catching fish from another country... thats fricking awesome. And the rooms look so cool except for the potential for sandy sheets, yay looks like so much fun, I'm getting REALLY JEALOUS!
It looks like a few icky insects (eg sandhoppers) could have got into that room for the night. Was the water clean (for swimming in?), and what was the bathroom like?
Sarah,
Haha yeah it was even kind ahard taking photos of this place cos it was hard to capture it all.
Catching fish from another country....I didn't realise fish carried around passports?
Mum,
The only icky insects they have here are the mosquitoes, which I didn't see too muchof at this place luckily, especially consdiering the river, but the water moved at a reasonable pace so maybe that saved it. But mosquito net is there for a reason I suppose!
The only creature I did see hanging round outside the room walking over one of the walls was a crab that had obviously wandered up for the night, but when I went to sleep I checked thoroughly to make sure there were actually none inside!
The water is clean to swim in pretty much, but your always gonna get a brush by of the odd plastic bag, and in some places a few plastic bags but otherwise is fine.
Haha the bathroom is pretty much like a long drop on a tramp, except less bugs cos theres no light and only sand around. The smell is generally still the same. They did have a "shower" but its just buckets of water so the ocean or lagoon is just as good really.
Its not like you to be so conscious of comfort!! But if you like there is a hotel further down towards the villages but no where near as nice a place as where we were!
